Frequently Asked Questions
Talk to a cutting specialist, not a call center. Mesa Diamond has manufactured diamond tools since 1988 and ships to 17 countries. If your question is not answered below, call +1 305 391 3754 or email sales@mesadiamond.com — we will tell you exactly which tool fits your material and machine.
Ordering & Shipping
How much does shipping cost?
Shipping is free on all orders placed on mesadiamond.com — there is no minimum order value. The price you see at checkout is the price you pay. Oversized machinery and pallet freight are quoted separately; contact us before ordering machines.
How quickly do you dispatch and when will my order arrive?
In-stock orders are dispatched within 24–48 hours on the next business day. Our warehouse operates Monday to Friday, excluding national holidays.
| Destination | Typical transit |
|---|---|
| United States (domestic) | 3–7 business days |
| International | 5–15 business days, depending on location and courier |
Estimated delivery dates are shown at checkout. If an item on your order is out of stock, we ship the available items first and send the rest as soon as they are back in stock — at no extra shipping cost to you.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. Mesa Diamond exports to 17 countries including Germany, Brazil, Canada and across North America. International transit is typically 5–15 business days. Import duties, customs fees and local taxes are the responsibility of the receiver and are not included in the product price.
How do I track my order?
As soon as your parcel leaves the warehouse you receive a shipping confirmation email containing your tracking number. You can also see every order, its status and its tracking link inside your account under My Orders. If the tracking has not updated within 3 business days of dispatch, email sales@mesadiamond.com with your order number and we will chase the carrier for you.
Can I change my delivery address after ordering?
Yes — as long as the order has not yet been dispatched. Because we dispatch within 24–48 hours, contact us as fast as possible at sales@mesadiamond.com or call +1 305 391 3754 with your order number and the corrected address. Once a parcel is handed to the carrier the address can no longer be changed by us.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit and debit cards, plus the express wallets shown at checkout (Shop Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal where available). Approved trade customers can also be invoiced — see Trade & Business Accounts below.
Returns, Warranty & Claims
What is your return policy?
You have 30 days from receiving your order to request a return if you change your mind or ordered the wrong item. To be eligible the tool must be unused (a diamond tool that has been mounted and cut counts as used), in its original packaging, in resellable condition, with proof of purchase.
Request the return first by emailing sales@mesadiamond.com with your order number — items sent back without an approved request are not accepted. On a change-of-mind return, return shipping is arranged and paid by the customer, and the original shipping cost is not refunded.
Returns that are our fault work differently: transit damage, a wrong item or a manufacturing defect are handled at our cost — see the two questions below.
Refunds go back to the original payment method. Allow up to two weeks in total: 5–10 business days return transit, 3–5 business days for our inspection, 5–10 business days for your bank.
Custom-manufactured tools (special arbor, non-standard diameter, custom wire or chain length, private-label items) are made to order and cannot be returned unless defective.
My tool arrived damaged, or I received the wrong item. What now?
Contact us immediately at sales@mesadiamond.com. Send:
- your order number,
- a photo of the outer packaging as it arrived,
- a photo of the item and of the label on the item.
Transit damage and picking errors are our cost — you do not pay return freight, and we replace or refund at your choice. Do not use a damaged tool; a cracked core or a bent blade is a safety hazard.
Are your diamond blades, core bits and wires guaranteed?
Yes. Mesa Diamond honors valid warranty claims submitted within 60 days of receiving the product. We are the manufacturer, so your claim is judged by the people who made the tool, not by a reseller.
Covered: segment separation from a sound core, weld or braze failure, out-of-true cores, bead or crimp failure on diamond wire, and other faults in material or workmanship.
Not covered: normal diamond wear; running the wrong bond on the wrong material; operating above the maximum RPM marked on the tool; running a wet-only tool dry or with insufficient water; worn spindle bearings, bent flanges or machine vibration; impact damage from dropping the tool or striking an obstruction; and any modification of the tool.
How do I file a warranty or defect claim?
Email sales@mesadiamond.com within 60 days of receipt with:
- Product code (SKU) and order number — the SKU is printed on the tool label,
- Photos of the tool: full face, the segment/bead area, and the arbor or connection,
- The job details: material cut, wet or dry, machine make/model and horsepower, RPM used, approximate linear feet or holes completed.
Those job details are what let us judge the claim fairly and, just as importantly, recommend the correct bond so the next tool lasts longer.
You pay the return shipping upfront on a warranty return, and if the claim is approved that shipping cost is reimbursed to you. Claims are reviewed within 7 business days of the returned tool reaching us. If approved you choose the remedy: a refund to your original payment method, store credit, or a replacement tool subject to stock.
Choosing the Right Tool
How do I choose the right diamond blade?
Three answers decide it:
- What are you cutting? Cured concrete, green concrete, reinforced concrete, asphalt, brick/block, granite, marble, or mixed demolition.
- Wet or dry? Your machine and the job site decide this.
- What machine? Handheld cut-off saw, walk-behind floor saw, table saw, wall saw or angle grinder — this fixes the diameter, the arbor and the maximum RPM.
If you tell us those three things at sales@mesadiamond.com we will name the exact product and size. Getting this right is the single biggest factor in cost per cut.
What does "bond" mean, and why does it change everything?
The bond is the metal matrix that holds the diamond crystals. It has to wear away at exactly the right rate so that fresh, sharp diamonds are continuously exposed. The governing rule of the industry sounds backwards but is correct:
Soft bond cuts hard material. Hard bond cuts soft, abrasive material.
| Material | Bond you need | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Hard aggregate, cured concrete, granite, engineered stone | Soft bond | The hard material does not erode the matrix; a soft matrix releases worn diamonds so the blade stays sharp |
| Green concrete, asphalt, block, abrasive sandstone | Hard bond | Abrasive material erodes the matrix fast; a hard matrix holds the diamonds long enough to earn their keep |
| Heavily reinforced concrete | Medium bond, high diamond concentration | Rebar hardens the cut; the blade has to survive both steel and aggregate |
Running the wrong bond is the number one cause of "this blade is no good" — a hard-bond blade on cured concrete will glaze over and stop cutting, and a soft-bond blade on asphalt will wear out in an afternoon.
What is the difference between wet cutting and dry cutting?
Wet blades are usually brazed and must be run with water; running them dry destroys them in minutes. Dry blades are laser-welded, which lets the segment survive the heat of dry cutting.
| Factor | Wet cutting | Dry cutting |
|---|---|---|
| Blade life | Longer — water cools the core and flushes slurry | Shorter, heat is the limiting factor |
| Dust | Almost none — the standard control for silica dust | Requires dust extraction and PPE |
| Cut quality | Cleaner, less chipping | Good, but more chipping on brittle stone |
| Site | Needs water supply and slurry management | Fast setup anywhere |
A laser-welded dry blade can normally also be used wet, which is a good way to extend its life. A wet-only brazed blade can never be used dry.
What is the difference between sintered and vacuum-brazed diamond wire?
We manufacture both, because they solve different problems.
| Wire type | Best for | Character |
|---|---|---|
| Sintered (diamond through the whole bead layer) | Concrete, reinforced concrete, granite, marble — production cutting and quarry work | Longer life, higher cost per bead, the workhorse for continuous cutting |
| Vacuum-brazed (single diamond layer bonded to the bead) | Steel, mixed steel-and-concrete demolition, awkward one-off cuts | Very aggressive and fast, shorter life — the diamond layer is one layer deep |
Tell us what you are cutting and how much of it, and we will tell you which wire is cheaper per foot on your job — that answer is not always the one that looks cheaper on the invoice.
What arbor and connection sizes do you offer?
Standard blade arbors are 20 mm, 22.23 mm (7/8"), 25.4 mm (1") and 1" with drive-pin holes for floor saws; core bits are supplied with 1-1/4"-7 UNC, 1/2" BSP and M18 threads as well as A-rod and 5/4 UNC connections depending on the range. Because we manufacture our own tools we can also produce a non-standard arbor, bushing or thread to order — see Custom Manufacturing. Always check the arbor on the product page before ordering, and if your machine takes something unusual just send us a photo of the spindle.
What sizes do you supply?
| Range | What we stock and make |
|---|---|
| Diamond saw blades | Concrete, asphalt and rescue blades in handheld, table-saw, floor-saw and wall-saw diameters |
| Diamond core drill bits | Wet and dry core bits across the standard diameter range, plus custom diameters and barrel lengths |
| Diamond wires | Wire for concrete, reinforced concrete, steel and natural stone — cut and crimped to the length you need |
| Diamond chains & guide bars | Chains and matching guide bars for ring/chain saws |
| Grinding cup wheels | Single and double row cup wheels for concrete and stone surface preparation |
If a size is not listed on the site, ask — we manufacture, so "not listed" rarely means "not possible".
Using Your Tool & Getting Longer Life
My blade has stopped cutting. Is it finished?
Usually not — it is glazed. The bond has polished over and the diamonds are buried instead of exposed. This happens when the bond is too hard for the material, or when you cut with too little pressure for too long.
To re-open it, make a few cuts in an abrasive material — a concrete block, an abrasive dressing stone, or asphalt. This strips the matrix back and exposes fresh diamond. If it glazes again within minutes, the bond is wrong for your material: contact us and we will send the correct specification.
How should I break in a new blade or core bit?
Make the first two or three cuts at moderate pressure and full water flow rather than forcing the tool immediately. This opens the segments evenly and seats the tool true. Never plunge a cold blade at full depth on the first cut, and never twist a blade in the cut to steer it — that is what cracks cores and knocks segments off.
Why did my blade lose a segment?
Segment loss is almost always mechanical, not a bond issue. The usual causes are:
- Overheating — running a wet blade dry or with insufficient water flow,
- Twisting the blade in the cut, or the machine walking off line,
- Worn spindle bearings or a bent flange, which lets the blade wobble,
- Hitting an unseen obstruction, or overspeeding above the RPM marked on the blade,
- Cutting with the machine binding in the cut instead of feeding steadily.
Stop immediately if a segment is lost and take the blade out of service. Send us photos of the core around the missing segment — the fracture pattern tells us whether it was a weld defect (covered by the warranty) or thermal/mechanical damage (not covered), and we will tell you honestly which it is.
What RPM should I run?
Never exceed the maximum operating speed marked on the tool — it is a safety limit, not a suggestion. Beyond it the core can fail. Below it, running too slow loads the segments and glazes the blade, so the aim is to run near the recommended speed with steady, moderate feed pressure. If your machine's RPM is higher than the blade's rating, you need a different diameter or a different blade — ask us.
How do I keep silica dust under control?
Cutting or drilling concrete, brick, stone and mortar releases respirable crystalline silica, and US contractors work under OSHA's silica standard for construction. The two accepted controls are wet cutting and dust extraction at the tool.
Wet cutting is the simplest: a continuous water feed suppresses almost all airborne dust and, as a bonus, roughly doubles the working life of the tool by cooling the core. If water is not practical, use a dry-rated tool with a shroud and a HEPA-filtered vacuum, plus the respiratory protection your site requires.
We can tell you which of our tools are wet-only, dry-rated, or usable both ways — just ask before you order. This is general guidance, not a compliance opinion; check the current OSHA requirements and your own site's safety plan.
How long should a blade or core bit last?
There is no single figure, and any supplier who gives you one without asking about your job is guessing. Life depends on the aggregate hardness, how much rebar is in the pour, wet or dry, machine horsepower, RPM and feed pressure — and above all on whether the bond matches the material.
The number that actually matters is cost per linear foot or per hole, not the price on the invoice. A blade that costs 30% more and lasts twice as long is the cheaper blade.
Tell us the material, the machine and roughly how much cutting you do in a week, and we will give you a realistic expected life for the tool we recommend — and if a tool comes in well under it, we want to hear about it.
My core bit has stopped drilling. What is wrong?
Work through these in order:
- Water flow. Slurry must run clean and continuous out of the hole. Restricted flow overheats the barrel and polishes the segments.
- Glazing. Same fix as a blade: drill a short hole into an abrasive block to re-expose the diamond.
- Rebar. Hitting heavy steel with a concrete-bond bit stalls it — you need a rebar-capable bond.
- Pressure. Too little pressure polishes; too much stalls the motor and cracks the barrel. Feed steadily.
- Rig rigidity. A loose anchor or unbraced stand makes the bit chatter and lose segments.
How should I store diamond tools?
Clean the slurry off, dry the tool, and store it flat or hanging in a dry place — not loose in the bottom of a truck box where cores get bent and segments get chipped. A bent core will never cut straight again. Keep wires coiled at their supplied diameter and never kink them; keep chains lightly oiled and off concrete floors.
Custom Manufacturing & Machinery
Are you the manufacturer, or a reseller?
We are the manufacturer. Mesa Diamond is a family-owned diamond tool producer founded in 1988, with more than 35 years in the trade and exports to 17 countries, including proving grounds like the marble quarries of Turkey where a substantial share of world marble demand is cut. That is why you can talk to us about diamond concentration and bond specification rather than just a part number.
Can you make a custom size, arbor or specification?
Yes — this is our strongest advantage over catalogue resellers. We regularly produce custom diameters and segment heights, non-standard arbors, threads and bushings, diamond wire cut and crimped to your exact length, custom chain and guide bar pairings, and bond specifications tuned to a specific aggregate.
Tell us two things and we can quote: what material you are cutting, and what performance you expect (maximum speed, maximum tool life, or the best balance of both). Send it to sales@mesadiamond.com or use the Request for Quote form.
What is the lead time on a custom or out-of-stock item?
It depends on the specification and on our production schedule at the time, so we quote a confirmed lead time in writing with every custom quotation — we would rather give you a date we can hold than an optimistic one. Stock items always ship within 24–48 hours.
Can I get spec sheets or a catalogue for your range?
Yes. Tell us which range you are interested in — blades, core bits, wire, chains or cup wheels — and we will email you the current specification sheets and catalogue pages, with dimensions, segment data and recommended applications. Write to sales@mesadiamond.com.
Do you supply cutting machines as well as tools?
Yes. Alongside our own diamond tooling we supply EURODIMA wall saws and wire saw systems for industrial concrete cutting. Machinery is quoted individually including freight and commissioning — contact sales@mesadiamond.com or call +1 877 506 0026.
Trade & Business Accounts
Do you offer trade, contractor or wholesale pricing?
Yes. Cutting contractors, rental houses, dealers and distributors can apply for a Mesa Diamond business account, which unlocks trade pricing on your logged-in account across the whole catalogue. Apply at Open a Business Account.
How does the business account application work?
Complete the form on Open a Business Account with your company details. We confirm receipt, review the application, and once approved your discount is applied automatically to your account — you simply log in and order at your trade price. Approval is normally completed within 1–2 business days.
Can I buy tax-exempt, pay by purchase order, or get a W-9?
Email sales@mesadiamond.com with your company details and what you need — a resale or exemption certificate on file, a purchase order, or a completed W-9 for your accounts team. We handle these alongside your business account application so the paperwork is done once and applies to every order after that.
Can I get a quote for a large or repeat order?
Yes — use the Request for Quote page. Quantity, mixed-range and annual-supply pricing is available, and you can review everything you have asked for under Quote History.
Do you sell anywhere other than mesadiamond.com?
Mesa Diamond products are also listed on Amazon and eBay. The full range, custom manufacturing, trade pricing and technical support are only available here on mesadiamond.com — the marketplaces carry a selection of standard stock items.
